KUCHING: The iconic Kuching Waterfront came alive in a breathtaking celebration of culture, unity, and sporting spirit as the curtains closed on this year’s Sarawak Regatta, held under the inspiring theme ‘Race for Harmony’.
The grand finale today was graced by His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and Her Royal Highness, Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, adding royal prestige to the event.
Also present were Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Marking a dazzling highlight of the afternoon, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg made a dramatic entrance – gliding in across the Sarawak River on a jet ski, symbolising both dynamism and progress in the Land of the Hornbills.

As traditional boats sliced through the gleaming waters against the backdrop of the golden sunset, cheers erupted from the riverside crowd – a vibrant mix of locals and visitors from across the region.
The air pulsed with the rhythmic beats of drums, the colours of fluttering flags, and the scent of local delicacies wafting from the bustling food stalls.
This year’s ‘Race for Harmony’ stood as more than just a contest of speed and strength; it was a tribute to Sarawak’s legacy of peace and unity among its diverse communities.
The afternoon’s races showcased three major highlights that embodied the regatta’s spirit of competition and camaraderie: the Men’s 30-Paddler’s Open for the Borneo International Cup (MTCP Cup – Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak), the Men’s 20-Paddler VIP Open Kenyalang Boat for Premier of Sarawak Cup, and the Men’s 30-Paddler (Local) for the prestigious Raja Sungai Governor of Sarawak (TYT) Cup.
