SEBUYAU: The surau at Kampung Sangki Melayu will have a major facelift under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), providing villagers with a more comfortable and conducive place of worship.

The project, managed by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) with Syarikat Ahaz as the main contractor, commenced on Jun 10 and is scheduled for completion by Oct 27 this year.

Sebuyau assemblyman Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, visited the site on Monday (Aug 18) to monitor the project’s progress and ensure works are carried out according to schedule.

His visit also emphasised site safety, work quality, and compliance with technical and construction standards to ensure the upgraded surau will serve the community effectively.

Once completed, the surau is expected to provide a better space for worship while supporting various religious and community activities for the residents of Kampung Sangki Melayu.

The project reflects the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment through RTP to strengthen rural infrastructure, improve quality of life, and narrow the development gap between urban and rural areas.

Also present during the visit were Samarahan deputy Resident Rais Ahmat, Sebuyau District Officer Ayuradiman Bujang, and Kampung Sangki Melayu community leader Rafi Rajaie.
