SERIAN: A 77-year-old woman reported missing after heading to her farm in Kampung Mayang Kawan here was found safe this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received a call at about 9am regarding the incident in Jalan Mongkos.
Personnel from the Serian station arrived at the scene at 9.37am, about 36km from the station.
“The victim, identified as Maria Jawas Jamas, had left her house at about 12.15pm on Sunday (March 1) to go to her farm without bringing food or medication.
“She is understood to have hypertension and diabetes.
“Villagers conducted a search from 5pm to 10pm on the same day but were unable to locate her,” a Bomba spokesperson said.
The woman was later found by villagers at about 9.15am, approximately 5km from the village, in safe condition.
No injuries were reported. She was subsequently sent to Serian Hospital by the Civil Defence Force (APM) for further examination.
