KUCHING: A free breast cancer screening was conducted at Kampung Rantau Panjang by the Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching (SCAN) and Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group (SBCSG) recently.

The programme was supported by the Kampung Rantau Panjang Development and Security Committee and the village chief Latep Seman.

The Latter Day Saints Charity’s contribution of portable ultrasound machines facilitated the screening.

The event also included a survivor-sharing session by Datin Dayang Mariani, who is the adviser to SCAN.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide and early detection is crucial for improving survival rates.

SCAN and SBCSG are dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of regular screenings and supporting those affected by breast cancer.

Both will continue their outreach programme to the other remote areas of Sarawak next year.

Datin Sri Enn Ong, officiated at the event on behalf of Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Also present were Roger Baer and Sister Laurie Baer, both charity representatives.
