SPAOH: Every agency must be prepared to move forward with new plans, determination, and direction by 2025 to ensure that approved development projects can be completed on schedule.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas stated that next year will be a challenging year, with a strong focus on completing previously approved projects.
“For example, the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) has approved numerous development projects amounting to approximately RM1.3 billion.
“These need to be implemented as quickly as possible so they can be completed next year.
“Therefore, all government agencies are urged to stay prepared, identify any challenges faced, determine solutions, and move forward with new plans, renewed determination, and a clear direction,” he said.
The BDDA chairman said this after officiating at the Land Compensation Cheque Presentation Ceremony for the Bukit Saban State Constituency Project at the Spaoh Community Hall yesterday.
He added that the public has high expectations for development projects to be completed promptly.
“When we announce a project, the public places great hopes on it. And similarly, the government sees it as our responsibility and promise to the people. If a project is delayed, we fail to fulfil that promise, which is not ideal as it hampers economic growth.
“Therefore, we appeal to everyone to play their part as much as possible because the World Bank’s recognition of Sarawak as a high-income region is based on our smoothly executed development projects,” he said.
In essence, he emphasised, every agency must adopt a results-oriented approach, ensuring all projects are completed within the set timeframe.
Also present was the Betong Division Superintendent of Lands and Surveys, Moris Nayup.
