BINTULU: Five students from Kolej Vokasional Bintulu (KV Bintulu) were awarded certificates for completing Projek LINK, a Shell-certified welding programme, at a graduation ceremony held at Kemena Plaza Hotel here.
Head of Productions, Shell MDS Malaysia, Yaw Pow Wee said the initiative, delivered through a partnership between Shell Middle Distillate Synthesis Malaysia (Shell MDS Malaysia) and KV Bintulu, aims to equip students with welding skills that meet international standards, preparing them for careers in heavy industries, including oil and gas, shipping, construction, and energy.
“We take pride in our collaboration with local educational institutions like KV Bintulu, which has been instrumental in creating employment opportunities and driving economic growth for communities in Sarawak.
“Projek LINK Bintulu exemplifies a strong public-private partnership and reflects our commitment to supporting the Sarawak Government’s vision for progressive human capital development in the oil and gas sector,” he said.
Since its inception in 2011, Projek LINK in Bintulu has produced 129 graduates, many of whom are employed locally and internationally.
The programme also provides opportunities for students facing financial and academic challenges to upskill themselves and gain employable qualifications.
