SIBU: The Lanang Community Volunteer Fire Brigade Sibu (LCVFBS) rolled up their sleeves for a community cleanup along Jalan Lanang here on Saturday, in support of the 2025 Malaysia Cleanup Day 2025.

The effort, which saw volunteers cleaning roadside areas and drains as well as collecting improperly disposed litter, aimed to raise public awareness on the importance of environmental cleanliness while fostering close ties between brigade members and the local community.

By the end of the programme, multiple bags of rubbish had been collected – a testament to the team’s commitment to keeping the surroundings clean.

LCVFBS chief, Daniel Iing Shii Ngie, said their involvement reflects the team’s support for government initiatives and instilling greater awareness among the community about environmental care and sustainability.

“Through involvement in such programmes, we hope the public will take greater responsibility and make cleanliness a daily habit.

“We also plan to continue engaging in similar community-based programmes in the future as part of our mission to build a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable community,” Iing added.
