KUALA LUMPUR: The implementation of the Productivity Linked Wage System (PLWS) is seen as the best initiative to bring home highly skilled Malaysians from abroad to serve the country.
Human Resource Minister M. Kulasegaran said the effectiveness of the system was evident as of August, when 84,249 companies implemented the PLWS involving 4.1 million workers.
The achievement is very encouraging and the target that 87,000 companies will implement the system by the year 2020 is seen as achievable as the government has set a target of 85,000 employers adopting the exercise which will benefit 3.9 million workers by 2020.
“So, to encourage them to return to contribute to the national economy, the wage system, productivity and better investments should be implemented and PLWS is the best platform,” he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the PLWS 2018 Awards Day-Human Resource Minister’s Cup yesterday.
He said the government was serious in improving the productivity of the nation and it was important to bring back highly skilled Malaysians.
He added there were more than 700,000 skilled Malaysians working abroad in various fields.
It is time for them to return to contribute to the country based on a win-win situation between workers, employers and the government, he said.
Meanwhile, commenting on the implementation of PLWS, Kulasegaran described it as a mechanism linking productivity with individual performance and rewards based on a win-win situation between employers and workers. –Bernama
