KUCHING: Penang FC head coach, Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail, expressed deep frustration after his team’s Malaysia Cup campaign ended, blaming external factors that he said “killed the game” despite his players’ best efforts.

In a post-match press conference following their 2-0 loss to Kuching City in the second leg of the Malaysia Cup round of 16 on Saturday night (Jan 24), Wan Rohaimi did not hold back his disappointment.

“I feel there isn’t much more I can say. Anyone who watched today’s game can see what happened. Our game was ‘killed’,” he said.

The coach stressed that his players fought honestly and with full commitment until the final whistle, but factors beyond their control affected the outcome.

Despite his frustration, the coach praised his squad for their effort and determination throughout the match.

“My players fought to the very end. What happened, happened. Everyone can see what happened today,” he said.

He acknowledged that external factors, which he declined to specify, played a role in the defeat but insisted his team would not use any excuses such as weather or pitch conditions.

“We accept all conditions, rain or heat, but there are other factors. You judge for yourself,” he said.

Penang FC’s Malaysia Cup journey ends here, but Wan Rohaimi vowed to learn and grow from the experience.
