Wanisa hosts women empowerment dinner

KUCHING: Persatuan Wanita Kuching (Wanisa) held a charity dinner on Feb 8 to raise awareness on the vital role women play in society.

The event brought together influential women from across Sarawak.

Her Royal Highness Raja Perempuan Kelantan, Tengku Anis Almarhum Tengku Abdul Hamid, graced the event, demonstrating her unwavering support for initiatives aimed at empowering women.

Wanisa chairwoman Datin Ayu Kartini Abdullah stressed its commitment to creating an inclusive ecosystem for women, thus opening more opportunities for them to thrive in various fields.

“The primary goal of this event is not only to raise funds but also to raise awareness about the vital role women play in shaping a more progressive society,” she said.

The evening also saw the presentation of welfare cheques from Laman Huda, Nurulhuda Hilda Abdullah, Desa Bini Diri, Dr Salmah Mohamad Yusuf, and the Board of Directors of Taman Seri Puteri to Wanisa.

Additionally, a symbolic donation of RM30,000 was presented by Tengku Anis to Wanisa, as an appreciation for women leaders in Sarawak who have significantly contributed to society.

The event was further enlivened with a special performance, an entrepreneurship exhibition featuring local women entrepreneurs supporting Wanisa’s programmes and a fashion show featuring designs from Benz Zafiq Atelier, Mal Annuar, and Suziana Osman Couture.

Present were Tengku Aniza Almarhum Tengku Abdul Hamid, Tengku Kesoma Mastika Tengku Anisah Almarhum Tengku Abdul Hamid, Datuk Professor Tengku Aizan Almarhum Tengku Abdul Hamid, Wanisa adviser Toh Puan Hayati Ahmad, the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Fatimah Iskandar, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, Malaysia Agreement 1963, and Federal-State Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and Wanisa adviser Datin Seri Airi Abdul Manan.
