SIBU: The Universiti Teknologi Sarawak Women’s Association (Wanita UTS) made a courtesy visit to Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi here yesterday (Dec 13).

Wanita UTS chairman Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain said that the association was established in 2022 with the aim of representing female staff and the wives of staff as a consultative body for members’ interests.

“Wanita UTS also serves as a platform to foster stronger bonds among staff and to further enhance UTS’s visibility within the community. At UTS, we strive to provide the best platform for women to thrive,” she said during the courtesy call.

She added that various programmes and activities have been organised, including self-development seminars, financial management seminars, and workshops on social etiquette and personal grooming.

“In addition, Wanita UTS has conducted several programmes and activities that benefit not only women but also the broader community, such as a visit to Methodist Children’s Home in Sibu in December 2023.

“During the last fasting month, the association worked together to prepare 200 portions of ‘bubur lambuk’ (a traditional porridge), which were distributed to the public around villages and hospitals.

“This activity not only helped those in need but also strengthened the bonds between Wanita UTS members and the community,” she said.

She stressed that Wanita UTS is committed to increasing activities that benefit both its members and the community.
