KUCHING: Four local suspects, including a man wanted by police, have been arrested over an alleged gang robbery that left a victim injured in a parking area along Jalan Petanak here last Saturday (Jul 11).
The suspects, comprising three men and one woman aged between 22 and 27, were detained by the district Criminal Investigation Division (CID) following an investigation into the case.
Also seized from them were a Honda RS150R motorcycle and three phones believed to be linked to the robbery to assist in the investigation.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said urine screening tests found all four suspects positive for drugs.
“Background checks found that all of them have prior records involving offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, the Penal Code and the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
“One of the suspects was also on the wanted list.
“All four suspects have been remanded for four days to facilitate further investigations,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery.
If convicted, the offenders may face imprisonment for a term of up to 20 years, and a fine or whipping.
