According to a press statement, the interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance work on the raw water pump at the Nyabau Water Treatment Plant, and temporary pipeline diversion works related to the construction of the flyover from Jalan Medan to Jalan Tun Hussein Onn.

The affected areas include a wide range of locations within Bintulu town, such as Jalan Abang Galau, Taman Sri Dagang, Jalan Keppel, Jalan Pedada, BDA Shahida, Pier 99, Li Hua Plaza, Medan Sepadu, and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Other specific locations listed include Medan Jaya, Central Park Residence, Bintulu Sentral, Market Garden, Taman Saberkas, Kidurong Avenue, Hospital Bintulu, Similajau National Park, Kampung Batu Mandi, Kampung Penan Muslim, Medan Assyakirin, and BDA HQ, as well as various commercial zones across Bintulu.

Residents along Jalan Tun Hussein Onn, Jalan Kidurong, Jalan Bintulu-Miri, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Tanjung Batu and Jalan Tun Razak, along with nearby areas, will also experience low water pressure or a complete water supply disruption during this period.

Several schools such as SJK Chung Hua 2, SMK Bintulu, SK Assyakirin and SK One, along with government offices on Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi, including Pejabat Residen, IPD Bintulu, Jabatan Imigresen and Pejabat Pos Bintulu, are also expected to be affected.

Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd has advised all consumers in the affected areas to store sufficient water for their daily needs during the interruption.

“Our water tankers will be mobilised to supply water for urgent needs,” the statement added.
