KUCHING: A total of 126 families in Kampung Trombol and Kampung Nyabut have benefited from the completion of the water supply project that began in 2022.
Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (Utility) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said that this success has resulted in the clean water supply coverage in the Pantai Damai constituency now reaching 95 per cent overall.
“The remaining 5 per cent consists of new settlements or newly built houses, and there are two villages still in the registration process for gazetting. Once completed, we will be able to provide information on the water supply there,” said Dr Abdul Rahman when met by the media after officiating at the water supply for Kampung Nyabut and Kampung Trombol here on Saturday.
With the completion of the project, he added that the Telaga Air zone has nearly achieved 100 per cent water supply coverage.
For new homes that will be built in the area, he advised homeowners to directly contact the Kuching Water Board regarding the documentation for the installation of water meters at their respective homes.
According to Dr Abdul Rahman, the ministry is committed to ensuring that clean water supply can be fully implemented in Sarawak, while also improving the quality of water treatment plants and enhancing water processing efforts.
Meanwhile, he acknowledged that some locations have reported experiencing low water pressure but most of these issues are due to peak times and residences situated in high hill areas.
“However, some places are experiencing low water pressure due to leaking pipes, and we will try to resolve this as soon as possible,” he said.
