THE proposed Lundu Water Treatment Plant and Raw Water Intake project and Lundu–Sematan Regional Water Supply project will benefit a total of 1,290 households located in the Opar and Tanjong Datu constituencies.

Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang said the two projects are part of the Sarawak Water Supply Master Plan and Water Grid System.

“The projects are currently being implemented by the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB),” he said when replying to Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang during the question-and-answer session at the DUN Sitting today.

Liwan said works on the Lundu Water Treatment Plant and Raw Water Intake began in October this year with a total cost of RM111.8 million funded by the Sarawak government.

Meanwhile, the Lundu–Sematan Regional Water Supply project is currently under construction with a total cost of RM144 million, also funded by the Sarawak government.
