BINTULU: The critical Samalaju Water Supply Infrastructure Project Phase 2, which aims to increase the capacity of the existing water treatment plant from 80 million litres per day (MLD) to 200 MLD, is poised to meet the growing industrial demands of the Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP).
Led by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) Project Management Division Director, Mohammad Safri Ibrahim, a delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Finance Malaysia (MOF) and the Sarawak State Financial Secretary’s Office conducted a site visit today to assess the project’s progress.
The visit commenced with an inspection of the proposed raw water intake site near Rh Justin Agas, Labang, Batang Kemena. It was followed by a tour of the Samalaju Water Treatment Plant, where RECODA and the project consultants delivered a comprehensive briefing on the project.
The inspection team included the Division Secretary of MOF, Datuk Nor Eni Ismail; Acting Deputy Director (Finance Unit) of the Sarawak State Financial Secretary’s Office, Bata Punjab; and representatives from Jabatan Bekalan Air Luar Bandar (JBALB) Sarawak, LAKU Management, and consulting firms.
