KUCHING: Kuching City FC has appointed former national sprint star Azmi Ibrahim as their new fitness coach, bringing decades of elite athletic experience to sharpen the team’s physical edge.
The announcement has sparked buzz on social media but who exactly is Azmi Ibrahim?

A household name in Malaysian athletics during the 1990s, Azmi was once a top national sprinter, known for his fierce rivalry with Sarawak sprinting legend Watson Nyambek.
Their battles on the track defined an era of Malaysian sprinting excellence.
After hanging up his spikes, Azmi transitioned into football fitness, building a strong resume over the past decade.
He served with Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) from 2013 to 2018, then spent a season with Home United FC in Singapore.
He later joined Kedah Darul Aman from 2019 to 2021, before most recently working with Sri Pahang FC from 2023 to 2024.
In the era of modern football where sports science, performance data, and injury prevention are critical — a fitness coach’s role is more vital than ever.
Their work behind the scenes ensures players remain in peak physical condition, recover effectively, and stay injury-free throughout the long and demanding season.
With Azmi’s proven track record and deep understanding of athletic performance, Kuching City FC looks set to benefit from his wealth of experience as they continue to strengthen their setup.
