KUALA LUMPUR: A weak earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 was detected in Temenggor, Gerik, Perak, around midnight last night (early Friday).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the earthquake occurred at 12:06 am at coordinates 5.5 degrees North and 101.3 degrees East.
The epicentre was located nine kilometres (km) northeast of Hulu Perak, Perak, at a depth of 10 km.
“The tremors were also felt in the Gerik area, but no tsunami threat was issued,” MetMalaysia said in a statement today.
Members of the public who felt the tremors from the earthquake are encouraged to fill out the questionnaire provided by MetMalaysia.
