BETONG: Elhan Shah Majlen (pic), a welding student, won the Best Vocal Award during the second season of ‘Gegar Vokbet’ competition held as part of Anti-Drug Week (ADW) at Sri Kenanga Hall here recently.
The competition was organised by Betong Vocational College’s Psychology, Career, and Peer Guidance Unit.
Elhan and his drummer who played a song, ‘Lamunan Terhenti’ won themselves cash prize, a trophy, flowers, health and beauty products, and discount vouchers.
“I consider this my fortune because I almost withdrew from the competition due to a few health problems,” he said.
Second place went to Dayang Nur Akma Aryannie Abang Mohidin, while Mildred Sandu Guntor won third place. The best performance award went to Jennin Christine Luntee.
According to a counselling officer, Sangin Juat, the competition was aimed at promoting a drug-free lifestyle among the students of Betong Vocational College.
