KUCHING: The Social Welfare Department (JKM), in collaboration with relevant agencies, has mobilised immediate aid to assist flood victims across Sarawak.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the department is ensuring that basic necessities and psychosocial support are provided to all affected individuals.
“My heart is heavy seeing the flood situation currently affecting Sarawak.
“I urge all those affected to prioritise safety and follow the authorities’ instructions.
“For those who wish to help, contributions can be made through JKM or recognized organisations,” she said.
She noted that further enquiries can be made through Talian Kasih at 15999 or the nearest JKM divisional or district office including PKMB Kuching at 082 – 507 600, PKMD Bau at 082 – 763 044, PKMB Serian at 082 – 892 288, PKMD Simunjan at 082 – 803 707, PKMB Bintulu at 086 – 313 675 and PKMB Miri at 085 – 432 960
At the time of writing, more than 1,800 victims have been placed in 34 temporary relief centers (PPS) across districts such as Kuching, Serian, Bintulu, Miri, Siburan, Tatau, Bau, and Simunjan.
Serian recorded the highest number of victims, with 374 people housed in six PPS.
