KUCHING: The decision on who will replace Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh who was International Trade and E-Commerce Minister and Second Finance Minister has not been made.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said he has not decided who would hold the posts.

Abang Johari was pressed for answers on the matter after he chaired Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Supreme Council Meeting at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters, yesterday.

“Wong Soon Koh’s effective date of resignation is on Aug 15. So, we will discuss it,” he told reporters.

When asked how soon he would make the announcement, Abang Johari said the prerogative was the chief minister’s.

“I am the chief minister, but it’s okay lah. I will let you (reporters) know when the time comes,” he said.

Regarding the GPS meeting, he said it did not mention the reshuffling of the state Cabinet.

“It is a normal meeting. We just discussed the political situation at the moment,” he said.

The chief minister said he had also briefed the members on development programmes and plans under the next budget.

“With all that, what is important is our consolidation. That’s all,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing who was also present at the meeting said there were no talks on Wong Soon Koh.

“Wong’s case is already in the past. A gone case; there is no need to talk about it anymore,” he said.

Masing believed that when the time is right the chief minister would decide.

Masing, who is also the Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) then said if there would be a Cabinet reshuffle, the chief minister would seek individual feedback and would not question a whole group.
