KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, have extended their Wesak Day greetings to the Buddhist community in Sarawak and across the country.

In his 2025 Wesak Day message, Wan Junaidi said the celebration marks a significant occasion commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha.

“It reminds us all to reflect on noble values such as compassion, humility, tolerance and kindness towards others, regardless of race or religion.

“I take great pride in the spirit of unity and harmony among different ethnic and religious communities that continues to thrive in Sarawak,” he said.

He therefore urged everyone to preserve the harmony as the foundation for the state’s continued progress and stability.

“I also hoped that this year’s Wesak Day would be celebrated meaningfully, in a peaceful and respectful atmosphere.

“Happy Wesak Day 2025,” said Wan Junaidi.
