LUBOK ANTU: The West Zone women’s regu teams made an emphatic start to the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) 2026 sepak takraw competition, delivering dominant performances on the opening day at the Lubok Antu Sports Complex today (Feb 4).
The men’s and women’s regu categories got underway this morning, featuring six group-stage matches across both divisions.
However, it was the West Zone women’s teams who stole the spotlight as they easily overcame their opponents in the first group-stage matches.
The West Zone A women’s squad won comfortably 2-0 (15-6, 15-3) against North Zone A (Bintulu, Miri, Limbang).
This was followed by a similar 2-0 (15-5, 15-3) victory recorded by West Zone B over North Zone B.
West Zone head coach Mohd Rushdi Sani expressed his delight with his players’ excellent performance.
“It’s a good start for us with two regu teams securing victories.
“We hope the players can maintain this excellent momentum for tomorrow’s matches,” Rushdi said when met at the sidelines.
The sepak takraw competition will go on for five days until Feb 8.
