KUCHING: Two teenage boys were arrested and two motorcycles seized during a late-night ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’ carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Kuching district police headquarters (IPD).

Kuching police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the two 16-year-olds were detained for performing dangerous ‘wheelie’ stunts on public roads, posing risks to themselves and other road users.

“The operation was conducted from 10 pm on Feb 14 until 4 am the following day at several locations, including Jalan Astana, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub, Jalan Tun Salahudin and MASJA.

“Police inspected 15 vehicles and 18 individuals during the operation, and issued six summonses for various traffic offences,” he said.

The operation was aimed at curbing illegal street racing activities and ensuring motorcyclists complied with traffic laws.
