ASSEMBLYMAN Wilson Nyabong Ijang (Pelagus-GPS) is known for his friendly personality.

In a casual interview, he offered a glimpse into his personality beyond the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) chambers.

Since becoming an assemblyman, he has developed the habit of actively listening to the people.

Wilson also expressed admiration for local history as his ideal lunch companion and picked the valuable labang fish as a fitting mascot for Pelagus.

Sarawak Tribune: Is there something funny or unexpected that has happened to you in the DUN building?

Wilson: So far, there is nothing much.

Do you still get nervous before giving your speech or question? Or is it second nature by now?

Now I don’t really feel nervous. I really look forward to delivering my speech.

What’s one habit that you’ve developed since becoming an assemblyman?

I keep on listening to the people.

If you could have lunch with any historical figure – local or global – who would it be?

I want to have lunch with a local historical figure. Someone that is older because I want to know the differences between back then and now.

If your constituency had a mascot, what would it be? And why?

I think the labang fish would be my constituency’s mascot. I choose this fish because its value is higher than many other fish in Pelagus.

Do you prefer a smartwatch or a classic timepiece?

I prefer a classic watch.
