It will be wise  for the coalition to include GPS-friendly United People’s Party (UPP).

This was pointed out by political analyst and associate professor Dr Jeniri Amir when asked for his comments.

“If UPP is made part of GPS, not only will it strengthen the party, it will secure more votes from Chinese voters,” he told reporters after the GPS Logo and Song Launching Ceremony at PBB Headquarters yesterday.

He said GPS had to look at ways of strengthening itself.

“When UPP is in, Chinese voters can support both UPP and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) in the coming election. There will be a good future for both GPS and the people,” he stressed.

Jeniri also praised GPS for its logo design which contains elements of Sarawak, including the protected hornbill.

“This means Sarawak government is putting Sarawak first and will continue to fight for the rights of its people.

“I believe with more programmes on the ground to create awareness of the logo and GPS’ aim, the rural community will soon be familiar with it,” he pointed out.

UPP is a splinter party that left SUPP in 2014 following  internal conflicts in 2011.
