LIMBANG: Construction of a 21-storey Wisma JKR building will start at the end of December, 2025.
Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) Director, Dr Cassidy Morris, announced the project when officiating at the JKR Limbang Divisional Monthly Assembly themed ‘Serving with Integrity, Building with Quality’ today.
JKR in a Facebook statement said Cassidy also outlined several initiatives, including the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence unit, rural expeditions (XPDC) to Bario and Murum, and the department’s readiness to build a new Kuching airport to support AirBorneo operations.
Earlier, Limbang divisional engineer, Mahathir Jokeni, stressed integrity, transparency and accountability in delivering safe, durable and high-quality projects.
He lauded the commitment of 144 officers from Limbang and Lawas who continued to serve despite geographical challenges.
At present, Limbang JKR is handling 23 development projects, with no sick projects, in addition to 118 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects.
The division has also earned recognition through awards, including the 2021 Hybrid KIK Award, the 2022 Ministerial-level Championship, and the SISCA 2024 TAROM 5-Star rating.
Cassidy commended the division’s achievements and described Limbang JKR as a model community.
He urged officers to strengthen project discipline through the ‘Project Court’ mechanism, engage in international seminars, work with academic institutions, and adopt student research outcomes into JKR development.
He also stressed the importance of media publicity at the divisional level to reinforce public confidence in the department.
