KUCHING: Walking past the vivid mural of Mohamed Salah at Anfield has taken on new significance after the Liverpool star confirmed he will depart at season’s end, marking the close of an era for supporters worldwide.

On March 8, 2025, I had the privilege of witnessing Liverpool FC’s Premier League clash with Southampton at Anfield. Under clear blue skies and a cool 16-degree breeze, it was a dream come true for a lifelong Reds supporter.
The journey was deeply personal. My uncle John Ferguson first introduced me to Liverpool, a passion that eventually led me to Anfield. For my cousin’s husband, Greg, that same love for the club was passed down from his father, reflecting how Liverpool’s legacy transcends generations.
Walking towards the stadium, Salah’s mural stretched across the walls of modest buildings, its vivid reds and smoky tones capturing the spirit of the club, passion, resilience and pride.
Now, that image feels like a tribute in real time.
We even took a wefie together in front of the mural, a simple moment that has since grown in meaning. Watching Salah play was another dream fulfilled, and he marked the occasion by scoring a penalty in the match.
Salah announced on social media that he will leave Liverpool at the end of this season, thanking the club for “the best time of my life”.

Since joining from AS Roma in 2017 for £34 million (RM190.8 million) he has become Liverpool’s third-highest goal scorer, winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
For many fans, including myself, that Anfield experience now holds even greater meaning, no longer just a dream fulfilled, but a moment shared in the closing chapter of a Liverpool legend’s remarkable journey.
Outside the stadium, the mural still stands as a lasting reminder of Mohamed Salah’s enduring legacy.
