SIBU: A woman claimed she had been raped by an Indonesian traditional healer (bomoh) while treating her for stomachache last Monday afternoon.
Sibu District Police chief, ACP Saiful Bahri said the incident took place at the victim’s house in Sibujaya here.
He said at the time of the incident, victim’s mother and aunt were at the living room watching the suspect giving treatment to the 20-year-old.
“During the process of treatment, the victim was brought to a bathroom, where the rape was believed to have taken place, by the suspect,” he said, adding that the suspect also spent a night at the victim’s house.
Saiful said as the victim was still suffering from stomachache, she went to a hospital to seek treatment the next day.
“A police report was lodged against the suspect at noon yesterday (Tuesday). He was detained in Tatau, Bintulu, by Tatau police this morning and is being escorted to Sibu.
“The case is investigated under Section 376 and 377 CA of the Penal code,” he said.
