MUKAH: A woman was killed in a car crash along Jalan Sekolah Sungai Bawang, here yesterday afternoon (Nov 16).
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the fatal accident occurred at 2.45pm and involved a Perodua Bezza driven by a 30-year-old woman travelling from Sungai Bawang toward Sibu.
“Initial investigations found that the vehicle lost control, skidded off the road and crashed into an oil palm tree,” he said in a statement.
Muhamad Rizal said the woman was rushed to the Selangau Health Clinic by her husband, who arrived at the scene shortly after the crash.
“She was pronounced dead at 4.20 pm while receiving treatment,” he added.
He also revealed that a pickup truck was involved in a separate accident at the same location soon after the first incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Muhamad Rizal urged witnesses to contact the nearest police station to assist with the investigation.
