SARATOK: An elderly woman succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment following a two-vehicle collision along KM433, Pan Borneo Highway yesterday morning (Dec 22).
The accident, which occurred at around 7 am, involved a Perodua Axia driven by a 57-year-old man and a Honda Dash motorcycle ridden by the 64-year-old victim and her 69-year-old rider.
Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the collision happened when the Axia, travelling in the right lane, collided with the motorcycle as it suddenly switched lanes from left to right.

“As a result, the impact caused severe injuries to both the rider and his pillion rider.
“The rider, a hearing-impaired person holding a disability card, suffered a fractured right leg and was referred to Sarikei Hospital for further treatment.
“Unfortunately, his pillion rider succumbed to her injuries at 9.23 am while receiving treatment at Saratok Hospital,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Axia driver reportedly escaped unharmed in the accident.
Mathew said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
