DUNGUN, July 3 (Bernama) — A woman with mental health issues is feared to have drowned after reportedly falling from the Sungai Paka bridge along Jalan Jabor-Paka, near Bandar Al Muktafi Billah Shah, here yesterday.

Dungun police chief Supt Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat said Nor Haslini Din, 47, is believed to have fallen from the bridge, which is located 100 metres from her residence, at 10.30 am.

“Her father, Din Zakaria, 77, who witnessed the incident, could not save her. The victim is believed to have been swept away by the strong current,” he said when contacted today, adding that the victim’s father then contacted the police to seek emergency assistance.

He said that 27 personnel from various agencies, together with members of the public, took part in a search-and-rescue (SAR) operation covering an area within two kilometres of the incident site, and as of late this afternoon, the victim had not been found.
