KUCHING: A 33-year-old woman was fined RM4,000, in default 10 months’ jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here today for possessing a fake pistol and firing it during a road rage incident along Jalan Kuching-Serian last Monday.
The accused pleaded guilty to two charges before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.
For the first charge, she was convicted under Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960 for possessing an imitation weapon, namely a fake pistol, at a house in Taman Gita around 8:30 am on October 27.
For the second charge, she was convicted of committing criminal intimidation with intent to cause grievous hurt to a 34-year-old man by using the fake firearm in the same incident and at the same time.
Based on the facts of the case, the victim and his wife were driving home from Siburan after a “surprise delivery” when their Perodua Alza and the accused’s Perodua Viva became involved in a provocation incident along the right lane.
Both vehicles abruptly braked, leading the victim to pull over by the roadside, where the accused also stopped her vehicle. A verbal argument ensued between them.

It was understood that the incident began when the victim’s vehicle had earlier provoked the accused’s car, which was ahead in the right lane.
During the argument, the accused suddenly pulled out an object resembling a pistol and fired it, hitting the victim’s head with a soft rubber pellet. No injuries were reported.
She then quickly got into her car and fled the scene. Following a police report lodged by the victim, the accused was arrested later the same day.
Police also seized a car, a car key, a fake pistol, a black pistol magazine, and eight yellow rubber pellets.
Investigations revealed that the accused had purchased the fake pistol through the online shopping platform.
The accused was represented by attorney, Lim Lian Kee, while the case was investigated by Inspector Awang Iswandi Awang Mahmuddin, Sergeant Ridvaner, and Sergeant Yusri Sidek.
