SIBU: A local woman sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision near Simpang Kemuyang, Jalan Ulu Oya last night (Dec 3).
The accident, which happened at around 7.25 pm, involved a Perodua Viva and a pickup truck, leaving the Viva driver injured and trapped in her seat.
Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver managed to exit on his own and is reportedly unharmed.
Firefighters from Sibu Jaya station were dispatched to the scene, about 12km away, following an emergency call.
Upon arrival, the team used specialised tools to free the 58-year-old victim, who was later handed over to paramedics for initial treatment before being taken to the hospital.
The extent of her injuries was not immediately known.
Earlier, at around 6.50 pm, a separate accident occurred in Siburan when a 43-year-old local man’s pickup truck skidded and crashed by the roadside near Kampung Lintang, Jalan Kuching-Serian.
Firefighters from Siburan station assisted the driver out of his vehicle before handing him over to paramedics for further treatment. He sustained injuries to his hip and legs.
