MUKAH: A 33-year-old woman has died after the car she was driving skidded off the road and crashed along the Mukah-Balingian road early this morning.
Mukah police chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the victim, who was travelling alone from Bintulu towards Mukah, lost control of the vehicle at about 7 am.
He said the car veered across the road before ending up in bushes on the opposite side.
“The victim, a shop assistant, was found unconscious after the crash and taken by ambulance to the Balingian Health Clinic.
“She was later pronounced dead by a medical officer due to severe head injuries,” he said.
He added that initial investigations found the road at the location to be a winding two-way stretch that was slippery at the time of the incident.
The vehicle also sustained severe damage.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
