SIBURAN: A local woman was killed while another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision near Kampung Keromboi today.
The accident, which occurred at around 6.40 am, involved a Honda motorcycle, ridden by the two women, and a Proton Saga whose driver escaped unharmed.
It was not immediately clear who among the victims was riding the motorcycle and who was the pillion.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Siburan station were dispatched to the scene, about 4km away, following an emergency call.
Upon arrival, the team provided initial treatment to one of the victims, a 30-year-old woman, before she was sent to Serian Hospital for further treatment.
The second victim, identified as 49-year-old Siti Nur Hafinda, was found unconscious at the scene and later pronounced dead by paramedics.
Her remains were transported to the hospital for further action.
The team ended the operation at 7.30 am.
