MIRI: A 23-year-old woman lost her life and two others were injured in a collision between a car and a pick-up truck at a traffic light junction in Miri, Sarawak, early on this morning.
Emergency services were called at 03:05 local time to the Vista Perdana intersection, where a Perodua Bezza and a Mazda double cab had collided.

Firefighters arriving at the scene found the woman trapped inside the Bezza. She was later identified as Easther Natashha Mulin. Crews extricated her from the vehicle, but she was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
A second occupant of the Bezza, believed to be the driver, had been removed prior to the arrival of emergency responders and was taken to hospital for treatment. The driver of the pick-up truck was also injured and transported for medical care.
The scene was secured within minutes, with fire crews completing operations shortly after 4am.
The victim’s body was handed over to police, who have begun an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Eight firefighters and two emergency vehicles were deployed, alongside police and health authorities.
No further information has been provided.
Authorities are working to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.
