MIRI: A fatal road accident involving a lorry and a car occurred today at approximately 1.15 pm yesterday Dec 8) on the Pan Borneo Highway in Beluru, here.
According to Miri district chief of police ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, the lorry was driven by a 51-year-old local man, while the car was piloted by a 73-year-old local man, carrying a 71-year-old female passenger, also a local.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the lorry changed lanes from the left to the right when it was struck on its rear right side by the car.
The female passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The car driver sustained minor injuries, and the lorry driver escaped unscathed.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
