Women among four gamblers nabbed in Ops Limau

BAU: Four persons including two women were arrested for playing blackjack in a market here, last Saturday (Feb 13).

In a late-night operation codenamed Ops Limau, a Bau CID team carried out a raid on a chicken market at Jalan Temenggong, around 10.30pm

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon, who confirmed the arrest, said four persons aged between 20 and 55, were caught playing blackjack in the market.

“We seized a wooden table, chairs, 52 playing cards and cash amounting to RM21. The suspects were taken to Bau police headquarters for further action,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 7(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 which carries a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or a maximum six-month imprisonment or both.

The gamblers are caught red-handed by police raiding party.
