KUCHING: Sarawak’s Wong Ling Ching marches into the Thailand Masters quarter-finals in commanding fashion after dispatching Denmark’s Julie Dawall Jakobsen 21-18, 21-11 in straight sets today (Jan 29).
The national women’s singles shuttler endured a shaky start in the opening game before finding her range, unleashing a flurry of cross-court winners and thunderous smashes to wrest control from her Danish opponent.
With confidence flowing, Ling Ching turned ruthless in the second set, dictating play from the outset and leaving Jakobsen scrambling as she cruised to victory with little resistance.

Jin Wei Goh also joins the fray after besting Qian Xi Han in nail-biting 12-21,21-10, 21-16 set battle.
Meanwhile, men’s singles ace Lee Zii Jia also booked his quarter-final berth after rebounding from a first-set setback to defeat India’s Mithun Manjunath 11-21, 21-16, 21-12.
