KUCHING: A workers’ quarters at Jalan Sungai Tapang here was completely destroyed by fire, leaving three workers homeless last night (Mar 21).
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 11.02 pm.
“The fire involved a wooden workers’ quarters measuring approximately 20 by 30 square feet, which was completely burnt down,” the department said in a statement today.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
“The fire was brought under control at 11.39 pm, preventing it from spreading to the nearby factory, and it was fully extinguished by 12.38 am,” it said.
After ensuring the situation was safe, the team returned to the station at 12.52 am.
The cause of the incident and the total losses are still under investigation.
