Working adults bear testament to UiTM’s flexible education

KUCHING: Working adults balancing academic pursuits with work and family commitments have come in for praise from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch.

The part-time students who pursued further studies through its Institute of Continuing Education and Professional Studies (iCEPS) were credited for their perseverance and dedication at a special appreciation and pre-graduation dinner held at the Riverside Majestic Hotel here Saturday.

The event was officiated by UiTM Pro-Chancellor Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz,who said they bore testament to the potential of flexible education.

“Inclusivity in education is crucial. Through iCEPS we create academic pathways for working adults to upgrade their qualifications without compromising their responsibilities,” he said.

He added that such initiatives are in line with Sarawak’s growing need for skilled professionals in vital sectors such as digital technology, healthcare, tourism and entrepreneurship.

“iCEPS graduates are poised to become key contributors to Sarawak’s development. Their ability to adapt and grow makes them invaluable in a rapidly evolving job market,” he said.

Highlighting that education is a lifelong journey, he stressed the importance of continuous learning and professional development to stay relevant in the changing global landscape.

The event also saw several outstanding students recognised for their academic excellence with Dean’s Awards and Best Student Awards presented by Abdul Wahab.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all graduates and award recipients. Behind every success story is also the unwavering support of family, they are the true unsung heroes,” he added.
