KUALA LUMPUR: The Works Ministry has outlined its key priorities under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) while preparing for Budget 2026, with a clear focus on developing infrastructure that is safe, modern, environmentally sustainable, and beneficial to the people.

Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the ministry’s focus areas include safer and well-maintained roads, wider adoption of smart and digital technologies in construction, and nurturing local expertise to meet international standards.

Other areas of emphasis are transparent and accountable governance, as well as balanced infrastructure development across Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak.

“In line with these priorities, I chaired the Works Ministry Policy Committee (JDKKR) meeting to strengthen the direction of national infrastructure development,” Nanta said in a Facebook post.

He added that three policy papers were agreed upon during the meeting, and stressed that immediate follow-up actions must be taken according to the outlined timeline.

“I constantly remind my officers that the Ministry is not just an implementer of projects, but also a strategic thinker in building roads, buildings, and most importantly, the nation’s future,” he said.
