Works on Daro Waterfront to commence in April

DARO: Construction works on the Daro Waterfront costing RM35 million will commence in April this year with completion scheduled for March 2027.


Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the people’s project this morning (Saturday).


The main scope of the 410-metre-long waterfront, covering an area of 4.25 acres, includes the construction of riverbank erosion control structures as well as landscaping and waterfront facilities, comprising an information centre and an observation tower.


It will also be equipped with a pergola, an outdoor gym pergola, an amphitheater, lock-up stalls and various other amenities.


The project is expected to provide a leisure place for both local residents and visitors, while directly contributing to the economic growth of the local community.


Earlier, Abang Johari also officiated at the launching ceremony of Batang Lassa Bridge and Daro Community Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) new building.


Also present were Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker, Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab, Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi and Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad.
