KUCHING: South Korea’s badminton ace, Seo Seung-Jae, is targeting another strong season after a remarkable 2025.

Seo, World No. 1 men’s doubles shuttler, is capping off one of the most successful seasons of his career, having collected 11 titles this year – 10 of them alongside his men’s doubles partner, Kim Won-ho.

The 28-year-old said his consistent run of form throughout 2025 came from daily discipline and a renewed long-term focus.

“I put in the effort every day, and the results this year have been very good. I’m happy with what I’ve achieved,” he said.

Seo added that he plans to “work even harder” to maintain his world-leading position.

“Next January, there’s a big tournament in Malaysia, so I’m very focused on that,” he told reporters when he arrived at Kuching International Airport (KIA) on Thursday.

He is scheduled to rejoin the South Korean national team camp immediately upon returning home this Sunday, signalling a sharp focus on sustaining his momentum.

Seo is also preparing for next year’s Asian Games, another key event on his calendar.

Off the court, 2025 has been personally meaningful as well, with Seo welcoming the birth of his first child – a moment he described privately as making the season “even more special”.

Seo arrived in Kuching for a three-day Sarawak visit focused on promoting cardiopulmonary health and encouraging active, healthy living through sport.

He and his wife, Moon Shin Hyung, were welcomed upon arrival by OCI TerraSus Community Partnership Project leader, Lee Sang Chan.

Seo will end his visit in Bintulu on Sunday (November 22), where he is scheduled to play a friendly badminton match with local healthcare professionals and OCI TerraSus staff, further advocating for active lifestyles within the community.
