SIBU: The 11th edition of the WTK Fun Run drew 1,669 participants to SMI Park here early Saturday (May 10).
According to WTK Group, RM83,450 was raised through the Fun Run.
And the company topped up the amount to fully fund the procurement of medical equipment for Sibu Hospital involving two units valued at RM215,500.
The donation comprised one unit of the Konica Minolta Sonimage HS2 ultrasound system (RM180,000) and one unit of the Steril-Scope Endoscope Cabinet (RM35,500).
The handover was officiated by Datin Seri Judy Lau and Datin Seri Annie Wong, who presented the items to hospital representatives Dr. Ngu Nga Hung andTiong Hwa Nguong.
The highlight of the donation is the Sonimage HS2 unit – a premium portable diagnostic ultrasound system manufactured in Japan – making its debut installation in Sarawak.
This marks a milestone for the state’s public healthcare system, particularly for the Medical Department at Sibu Hospital, which now benefits from cutting-edge imaging capabilities.
Complementing the ultrasound machine is the Steril-Scope Endoscope Cabinet, which enhances endoscopic equipment safety by providing sterilised, traceable, and space-efficient storage.
The cabinet is expected to improve infection control and equipment longevity at the facility.
