YAKIN has formalised a strategic partnership with Hospital UMRA, a trusted private multidisciplinary healthcare provider in Shah Alam since 2006, through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Datuk Steven Lai, Director of YAKIN, and Datuk Dr Mohamed Rafi Bin Dato’ Dr Mohammed Feizal, Founder and Medical Director of Hospital UMRA.
The alliance unites YAKIN’s leadership in umbilical cord‑derived mesenchymal stem cell (UC‑MSC) technology with Hospital UMRA’s deep community trust and clinical infrastructure, creating a responsible, patient centred pathway to translate cutting edge science into accessible care.

In a major boost to Malaysia’s research capacity, YAKIN MEDIC has partnered with AuxiTherapeutics to establish and operate a GMP‑standard R&D laboratory within Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), scheduled to launch in the coming months.
The agreement was signed by Ms Charlize Tan on behalf of YAKIN MEDIC and Ms Marina Choo on behalf of Auxi Therapeutics.

YAKIN MEDIC and Auxi Therapeutics are set to establish a GMP-standard R&D laboratory at UMMC, strengthening Malaysia’s research capabilities and driving innovation in next-generation biomedical science.
The laboratory is scheduled to commence operations in the coming months. This facility will advance high-value research in immunology, cell therapy, and CART cell innovation – fields poised to redefine global medicine.
Once operational, the facility is expected to support research and development activities within Malaysia’s biomedical and immunology sectors while contributing to talent development, technical knowledge and regional scientific collaboration.
Ms Charlize Tan said this development represents a critical bridge between academic discovery and industrial capability, placing Malaysia at the frontier of next-generation biomedical science.
“Malaysia has the scientific talent, healthcare infrastructure and strategic location required to become a recognised regional centre for biomedical innovation. This facility is intended to provide the environment, technical capabilities and collaborative platform needed to move promising discoveries from the laboratory towards responsible real-world application.”
She added that the collaboration demonstrates how partnerships between researchers, industry participants and healthcare institutions can accelerate innovation.

YAKIN MEDIC has also signed an MoU with Vanfo Hino Sdn Bhd to explore establishing a GMP-compliant mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) cultivation laboratory in Johor Bahru, creating a strategic southern hub to serve the fast-growing markets of southern Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.

The agreement was signed by Ms Charlize Tan on behalf of YAKIN MEDIC and Mr Zhang Wen on behalf of Vanfo Hino Sdn Bhd.
The facility will deploy advanced bioreactor technology for consistent, scalable stem cell production, shortening lead times, strengthening supply chains and establishing Johor Bahru as a critical regional logistics and manufacturing gateway.
Ms Charlize Tan said the proposed laboratory would form part of YAKIN MEDIC’s broader strategy to establish a more resilient and geographically connected regenerative medicine infrastructure.
“Johor Bahru is a natural gateway to the southern Malaysian and Singapore markets. Establishing laboratory capabilities closer to these markets has the potential to improve operational efficiency, reduce logistical complexity and support more timely access for healthcare and research partners.”
Mr Zhang Wen said Vanfo Hino was proud to work with YAKIN MEDIC on the proposed development.
