KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap visited Kem Semenggo and Kem Ria on Tuesday to present Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to support the welfare of military personnel and their families.

According to a statement, he presented a RM5,000 MRP grant to the Tabung Kebajikan Rejimen (TKR) 11 RAMD during his visit to Kem Semenggo, followed by another RM5,000 grant to TKR 511 at Kem Ria.

He said the welfare funds are meant to provide crucial assistance to serving personnel, veterans and their families, particularly during emergencies, financial difficulties and other welfare-related circumstances.

“Our servicemen and women make immense sacrifices to safeguard the peace, security and sovereignty of our nation. It is therefore important that we continue supporting initiatives that enhance their welfare and well-being,” he said.

Yap added that although the contributions were modest, they symbolised the community’s appreciation for the dedication and commitment shown by members of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

He also thanked the commanding officers and personnel of both camps for their warm welcome and hospitality during the courtesy visits.

Yap said he would continue supporting programmes that benefit military personnel and their families.

“The Malaysian Armed Forces have long been a pillar of strength in safeguarding our nation’s peace and stability. I hope these contributions will help the welfare funds continue carrying out meaningful programmes and providing timely assistance to those in need,” he said.
