KUCHING Residents of Kampung Cemerlang came together in the spirit of cooperation and unity during the Program Gerak Rahmah “Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk 2026” at Masjid Nurul Hidayah today. (March 15).
The programme, organised by the Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Kampung Cemerlang in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, saw volunteers and community members working together to prepare and distribute the traditional bubur lambuk to residents.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin attended the event as the guest of honour.
In his remarks, Yap commended the organisers for taking the initiative to organise activities that help strengthen ties among residents and promote the spirit of cooperation within the community.
“Programmes like ‘Jom Masak Bubur Lambuk’ truly reflect the spirit of gotong-royong and unity that defines our Sarawakian community,” he said.
He added that it was encouraging to see people from different backgrounds coming together during Ramadan to share food and goodwill.
Yap also expressed appreciation to the organising committee of Kawasan Rukun Tetangga Kampung Cemerlang, as well as members of Masjid Nurul Hidayah Kampung Cemerlang, for their commitment to organising the programme.
He noted that grassroots initiatives such as the event play an important role in fostering harmony and strengthening relationships within the local community.
The programme concluded with the distribution of bubur lambuk to residents and visitors, symbolising the spirit of sharing and compassion during Ramadan.
Yap reaffirmed his continued support for community-driven programmes that encourage unity, volunteerism and the well-being of residents in the Kota Sentosa constituency.
