KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has pledged to continue resolving community-related issues in the constituency in a practical, timely and solution-oriented manner.

“My resolution for 2026 is equally clear — to continue resolving community-related problems and issues in Kota Sentosa in a practical, timely, and solution-oriented manner.

“Whether the issue is infrastructure, public health, education, welfare, or quality-of-life concerns, my commitment is to ensure that no genuine problem raised by residents is ignored or left unresolved. Governance must be felt at the grassroots level, not just discussed at meetings,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted for comment on his New Year aspirations and resolutions.

Yap also expressed hope that all approved development projects in Kota Sentosa would be implemented smoothly and completed by the first half of 2026 so that residents could enjoy their benefits without further delay.

“As we look ahead to 2026, my foremost hope is simple yet crucial — that all the numerous development projects already approved for Kota Sentosa will be implemented smoothly and completed by the first half of 2026, so that residents can enjoy their benefits without further delay,” he said.

He stressed that the projects were people-centric and based on feedback gathered through engagement on the ground.

“These projects are not abstract plans on paper. They are people-centric initiatives that directly affect daily life in our communities, including the upgrading of drainage systems to mitigate flooding, improvements to roads and street lighting for safety, enhancements to recreational parks, better school facilities, continued improvements at Klinik Kesihatan Kota Sentosa, and upgrades to key community hubs such as the Seven Mile Market,” he said.

Yap added that he would further strengthen outreach efforts through more site visits, dialogues, mobile service sessions and closer coordination with government agencies, community leaders, NGOs and residents’ associations.

“A hands-on approach is essential — listening directly, following up consistently and ensuring delivery on the ground,” he added.

The assemblyman said leadership should be measured by results rather than rhetoric, and reaffirmed his commitment to serve as a bridge between the people and the government.

“Moving into 2026, my focus remains steadfast — to listen attentively, act decisively and deliver responsibly for the people of Kota Sentosa. Together, we will continue building a safer, more inclusive and more liveable constituency for all,” he said.
